Provides emotional support, referrals and information, assistance and accompaniment through the judicial system to women, men, children and youth who are victims of intimate crime.

Intimate crime includes violence in relationships, child abuse, sexual assault, historical sexual abuse and criminal harassment (stalking).

Victim Support Services is committed to providing assistance to aboriginal peoples and ethno-specific and diverse communities, including gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered individuals.

Victim services receives self referrals as well as referrals from various agencies in the community: the RCMP, the police-based victim services, along with other partners involved within the judicial system.

In accordance with the Victims of Crime Act, you have the right to:

  • Receive information about victim services programs available to you.
  • Access help in applying for the Crime Victim Assistance Program.
  • Receive information about the criminal justice system, the status of the police investigation and the court case.
  • Complete a Victim Impact Statement.
  • Receive information about your rights of privacy.
