Confidentiality

As a volunteer with Sage Haven Society, you may be in contact with confidential information. It is imperative that you understand your duty regarding confidential information. As a volunteer, you agree to maintain the confidentiality of Sage Haven Society's shelter locations and agree not to share any confidential information you may have access to with anyone outside of Sage Haven Society including, but not limited to, your family, friends, co-workers and community.

Criminal Record Checks

In accordance with the BC Criminal Records Review Act, implemented on January 1, 1996, a criminal record check is mandatory for anyone who works with children in organizations that receive operating funds from the provincial government. Thus, criminal record checks are required from all potential volunteers.

Privacy Policy

Sage Haven Society is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information in our possession or under our control in accordance with the Personal Protection Act (PIPA). The information in the application is used for appropriate volunteer placement. Additional questions about privacy can be forwarded to office@sagehavensociety.org

Newsletter and Email Permissions

By applying to volunteer with Sage Haven Society, you are providing permission for Sage Haven Society to contact you by phone, email, and postal mail including (but not limited to) receiving our newsletters.

Other Policies

While Sage Haven Society welcomes clients who have benefited from our services as volunteers we do have a policy that volunteers must be out of an abusive relationship for at least two years and not have used Sage Haven Society's services for two years prior to volunteering.
